(Murphy, 2020) 30" M 5.5" dormant, diploid; 3 branches, 17 buds; Double-95%
Parentage: ((Crooked x Zada Mae) x Together at Last)
Absolutely glowing gold and orange blend that lightens to creamy gold in the afternoon. In my quest for hard dormant layered double diploids, this one checks all of my boxes. It doubles almost always, and shows around 90% layered form. Sunfast, period, with freeze resistant foliage! Pairs well with Brother Coal.
I registered it with 3 branches OOPS! Clumps this year have perfect 5 and 6 way branching and a large amount of buds. It is very consistent and reliable. Should be hardy in zone 3-4 based on it's parents hardiness. If you live in 3, I would like to send you one for shipping costs and you can let me know. Jim
2021- Very good rebloom two years in a row.
This distinctive blackish red colored spider has a darker patterned watermark, yellow midribs, and striking chartreuse patterned throat. Sunfast, period. This starts blooming after SANDRA ELIZABETH and blooms for up to 2 months due to 4 way branching and 26 buds. This, along with BETTER LATE THAN NEVER and CAYENNE, would bloom alone in most daylily gardens, with fresh foliage, and fresh blooms in August and September. Excellent parent for unusually colored spiders and UF'S.
(Murphy 2013) 50" ML 7" Dor Dip Ext UF Cascade Light pink with a lavender edge, large lemon throat. This plant blooms a very long time, and has lots of small proliferations. 4 branches, 25 buds, and is sunfast and rain resistant. Hard Dormant. Out of MARGO REED INDEED by NORTH WIND DANCER. Pollen fertile, pod difficult.
Not registered as a rebloomer, but has rebloomed heavily in the fall three years in a row. I mean heavily, with 4 or 5 branches, almost every plant reblooming. This suggests to me that it will rebloom in zones 6 and south.

(Reed, 2020) 36" EM 6" dormant, diploid; 3 branches, 21 buds;
Parentage: ((Military School x Faulkner sdlg) x Starlight Splash), patterned.
A soft cream-yellow to near-white bloom with a feathered raspberry eye consistently broken with a multi-colored pattern. This was chosen for its attractive pattern that is expressed as consistently as any in our variable weather conditions. It has a long season of bloom, good plant habits, and is pod and pollen fertile.
(Reed, 2017) 40" M 7.5" dormant, diploid, 3 branches-12 buds, ((Metzger's Purple Storm x (Peacock Curls x Cherry Peacock)) UF - crispate cascade.

Out of purple and rose breeding, this has a cerise red color that has great intensity and purity.
Note from Jim: There is no clearer or brighter color in the garden than this flower. If you are looking for clarity, look no further.
(Murphy-JP, 2023) 31" EERe 5" Dormant Diploid
Beguiling combination of cream with a lavender blue eye etched in violet. White midribs split the eye. Ruffled petal edges. Reed, 2005 - 40' Mla 7"; dor.dip.ext. Big flat ruffled white with substance
SNOWBOARDING features white blooms that are large, ruffled, and fairly flat that show off well in the garden. This is a slow growing plant (we've waited a few years for enough stock to introduce) but it has great plant habits - good foliage, 3-way branching, and around 15-18 buds. Not nearly as recurved as GLACIAL EPOCH, each petal is shaped more like a snowboard. Good substance. Fertile
SO IT BEGINS ( Murphy 2016) 30” EMRE 6” SEV Tet, 2 branches and 20 buds, UF Spatulate
Most patterned seedlings have good days, bad days, and lose their pattern to hot weather or long days in the garden. This TET intro is a long awaited, reliably patterned, all-day/any-weather plant with great color. Very fertile both ways, and has decent rebloom here. Lemon Cream with multiple patterned eyezone, green throat and a small picotee edge halfway onto the petals. Quite spatulate form, very sunfast, and lightens to cream on very hot days. Fertile with fantastic patterned kids. Sometimes goes dormant, but registered as a Semi Evergreen. Out of FISH FACE by BARCODE.
Very good rebloom in 2020 -2022.

Mauve with lavender eye and violet etching. Cream midribs, purple edge on petals, intense green throat. Blooms a tremendously long time, up to two months. 4 branches, around 25 buds. Out of LUCKY STREAK by KIRSTEN MADELAINE BURKEY, fertile, and blooms until very late season, with some re-bloom in September. Finally back in stock after several years.
Has proven that it will grow in both good conditions and bad. It got swallowed by our wineberries and bloomed through the canes. It does better with better care!

(Murphy- JP, 2023) 46" M 8" Dormant Diploid, UF Cascade
Lemon cream with a jagged red black eye. Light green throat. The scapes are among the sturdiest that I have ever seen on a diploid. A really excellent contrast in colors coupled with a bloom habit that allows blooms to open up and down the scapes. Heavily branched and budded. 4 branches and 27 buds. In 2023, I have a plant with 6 branches. Excellent Parent of Industrial Strength, and several futures.
Named for the former Light House near the current town of Stingray Point on the Chesapeake Bay at the eastern terminus of Route 33. The original name came from colonial times. Captain John Smith was stung by and seriously injured by a Cownose Ray at this location. He was tended to by a Native American healer who used a specific salt mud poultice to help his injury. The area got its name after this occurrence.
Out of (Busy As A x Opal Road). Proven hardy in both Wisconsin and Minnesota, Zones 5a and 4b.
STRETCH is a gorgeous cherry red 5/1 spider with an extremely long bloom season. It blooms 7 or 8 weeks here once established, through bud building. Tall, at 47", with strong scapes, and 2 branches, with 20 buds. It is extremely sunfast for us, and has a yellow green throat, and yellow midrib. Out of BARNEGAT LIGHT by KIRSTEN MADELAINE BURKEY. Exceedingly fertile and makes huge, full pods. Has proven to be not only a good garden plant in the late garden, but an excellent parent as well.
Note in 2018- I kept well over twenty seedlings from STRETCH in 2017, so I think it is a pretty special parent. Guaranteed pods for us, in all conditions. 2020 Excellent.
Very long blooming lemon cream with red/purple eye and light green throat. Bloomed from June 22 until August 1 this year. Petals have a creased midrib of the same color. Murphy 2010 41" M 7" SEV Tetraploid Cascade Unusual Form
Thank you to Glenn Pollock for pushing me to introduce this one since its maiden bloom. It has proven to be remarkably visible in the garden, due to the tall scapes, bright orange color and striking, feathered reddish purple eye. It has colors matching Virginia Tech's colors: blasphemy!, here near UVA! 3 branches and 18 buds, that bloom long and slow, for a long season. Sun-fast, out of (ISLE OF DREAMS x TET CORAL CRAB) X FISH FACE. Unique genetics make this great garden plant also a hybridizers tool. Pollen fertile and pod possible.
Cream-parchment with a dark purple eye, fading to near-white and purple eye by the end of the day. It has some purple ruffled edging, and a light lime-green throat. The dark purple eye bleeds out some into the petal color, and the sharp contrast between the dark and light colors is stunning. The form is very graceful and slightly ruffled. It has 3-way branching ("W") with 12 buds.
It is out of (Casey at the Bat x Just Jessie).
The Librarian is a bright pumpkin orange with a red eye, and a green throat blending to yellow, with yellow midribs. It is a ruffled and out-facing bloom. Named after a wizard in the DiscWorld (of Terry Pratchett), who was turned into an Orangutan and liked it. Orangutan orange. 3 branches, 26 buds, still blooming into August. Pod and pollen fertile. My long awaited first intro from BRILLIANT IDEA by KIRSTEN MADELAINE BURKEY is not to be missed in the garden. It starts blooming here about July 1st and bud builds until September 1st . Unlike many red spiders, it is wide open on cool mornings at dawn and blooms until after dark. It has a red eye, green throat, lemon midrib, 5/1 spider ratio, and excellent foliage. Fertile, and an excellent parent. Both Margo and I have introductions from this fine parent.

Quite tall, like pink turtles blooming on the top of 4-way deeply branched scapes (24 buds). Out of LOLA BRANHAM, this one blooms late and long. The blooms are not large, but recurved pink blend shells with darker pink stippling above a green throat. Its garden name was "Pink Towers". Fertile both ways. I am using it to bring pink colors into the tall cultivars. It was registered when I knew it would be an introduction, but it didn't get lined out for introduction until this year, because it blooms so late in the season. It has been a good parent.
