(Reed, 2021) 35” Mla 6” dormant, diploid, Unusual Form cascade
Richest, purest deep rose with apple green throat extending out into white with white midribs edged with light rose. Very ruffled. 3-way branching, bud count 20. Slow increaser but makes lots of proliferations. Pod and pollen fertile. Parentage: ((Margo Reed Indeed x North Wind Dancer) x (Peacock Curls x Cherry Peacock))
Cherry red with a green throat. 38" EM Re 7" dormant diploid, Unusual Form-cascade.
Out of two parents that are garden favorites, this is a bright, curling, recurved bloom has ruffles and is nicely branched and budded. It has also rebloomed heavily for us.
3 branches and 24 buds. Pod and pollen fertile.
45" M 7.25" dormant diploid. Rose pink with a darker rose-red band, green throat. This has tall, deeply-branched scapes with 3 way branching and 26 buds. Nice presentation of the blooms. Pollen fertile, pods difficult but possible. A garden favorite for years!
Very tall, well-branched and budded, this extra-large reddish lavender with a dark lavender eye, gold throat, and ruffled cream edge stands out, to say the least, towering over lesser plants. On cool mornings, grey. Sunfast to over 90 degrees; fertile. Very long blooming. (Grey Witch X North Wind Dancer)
Murphy 2015 48" EMRe 8" dormant, tetraploid 3 branches, 23 buds, very sunfast Unusual Form – Cascade ( Fish Face x Freewheelin)
Tall, huge, stunning yellow with large jagged purple eye, green throat, blue-green foliage. I tagged this seedling on its’ first bloom. It has proven its’ worth in 4 seedling seasons. It can have taller scapes with more branching in exceptional conditions. All cultivars have qualities and considerations. This one checks most every box, except is not pod fertile. The scapes are thick and strong, but a few have leaned over in thunderstorms when they have several 8 inch blooms, but it is not the dreaded flopper... Going to flower shows? Bring this one. Wide and broad branching with well spaced flowers.
Excellent again in 2018.
2022- Magnificent this year, very showy.
2026- Spectacular and available again!
(Murphy 2022) 51" L 8" Dormant, Diploid; 5 branches, 27 buds. Unusual Form Cascade and Spider 4.8/1.
Medium red with large gold and light green throat. Cream midribs. Blooms are very twisty and twirly, very sunfast. Strong scapes. Pollen fertile only.
Out of (Stretch by Dan Bachman’s award winning Mascara Snake).
I will be correcting the registration by adding rebloom. An oversight on my part, as it seems to continuously rebloom until frost.
Only two plants available for 2026.
Murphy, JP, 2022 6" ML 37" Dormant Diploid UF Cascade
Chris is my second youngest nephew, now a special young man, and picked this one! On hot days, this is black purple, and on cooler days, it takes on a greyed or frosted look with pronounced black eye. Green throat, and cream midribs, with blooms facing up and out. Shorter than it's sibling, Darkest Night, it looks very different in the garden. Open wide on cold mornings, and very sun resistant for such a dark flower. 3 branches, 20 buds, all perfectly placed above the foliage. Blooms about 5 weeks here. Very fertile and a great parent. Out of (Brer Rabbits Baby x "Ace") x (Focus) Metzger's Purple Storm
Proven hardy in Wisconsin Zone 5b.
Metzger ( 2013) 43" EMRE 6.5 Dor Dip Ext. Cascade Unusual Form
David's flower has been a star in our garden for 14 years now. Orange and tan, with a red eye, green throat, and cream edge, it curls radically on hot humid days. Quite sunfast. Four way branching, 27 buds, and a long bloom season, with some rebloom. Out of two great ones, MAGIC OF OZ, by ROCKET SCIENCE. The latter is hardy in zone 3. Pollen fertile, Pod difficult.
In great demand!
(Murphy, 2019) 54" M 7" dormant diploid, UF – cascade
Dark cream with lavender eye and green throat . Cream midribs on petals, the backs of petals are pinkish. Won best seedling at NCDC show in 2018. Grows fast, with tall, strong scapes. 4 branches and 20 buds. Fertile both ways, and makes tall lavender-eyed kids. Out of (((Evil Gnome x Indian Giver)x( Complicated)) x Unknown).
2020- Clearly continues to impress with perfect form, EMO/CMO, strong scapes, and long bloom period.
2021- Scapes are almost as strong as wooden stakes. Every bloom perfect and held up high.
Has won an Honorable Mention.
2026 truly excellent this year.
Soft peach cream ruffled blooms sit atop well-branched scapes, with blush-rose eyes and light green throats. The blooms tend to be upfacing, and look like a cloud could land there comfortably! The only downside is that the foliage is a light green color. Pod and pollen fertile.
Parentage: CRYSTALLINE ENTITY X MARGO REED INDEED.
Bret Clement, 2009. 32" La 7.5" dormant, diploid. Uf crispate. Rose red with white midrib and edge, and slightly darker rose eye above green throat. This makes a great clump with rosy pointed stars covering the plant! Not only a great name, but a great plant.
Parent of Baby Boom Galaxy.
This dark blood-red purple with large light green blending out to white throat, and raspberry midribs, is a slightly ruffled Unusual Form cascade. This dramatic, late, dark bloom with elegant twisting and curling form is presented on a scape with 3 branches and 18 buds. Fairly sunfast and fertile both ways. Bloomed into August.
Murphy, JP 2022 6" ML Dormant Diploid 49"
Gracing the late daylily garden is this fragrant, cream Unusual Form Cascade with high bud count and stout, 3-4 way branched scapes. Officially, 3 branches and 32 buds. It blooms without regard to sun, heat, and light rain. Open early and stays open late. Blooms about 6 weeks here. Green throat and ruffled edges complete the picture. Very fertile, out of two wonderful daylilies, Green Tea x Garden Ghost.
This year, this plant had 5 way branching, and bloomed about 6 weeks.
My strongest scaped near white.
( Murphy 2014) 46" L 8" Dormant Diploid UF- Crispate
Striking Coral-cranberry Red with darker red eye, and significant dotting or sanding of color near the greenish orange throat. All blooms held erect on stiff also erect scapes way above the strongly dormant blue green foliage. Out of a Benzinger seedling by KIRSTEN MADELAINE BURKEY. 3 branches , 24 buds. Extremely fertile. It has proven to be a great parent for interesting late UF's.
3 branches, 17 buds. UF Crispate. Parentage: (Following Seas x unknown)
Reddish lavender bi-tone with extremely large cream and green throat. Bud builds for a long time in good conditions, yielding up to 25 buds. The blooms face out and up looking at you. Many people were drawn to this one from across the garden. Very sunfast. Pollen fertile only. Excellent children with cool light throats.
(Reed, 2020) 48" M 6.5" dormant, diploid; 3 branches, 18 buds;
UF – Cascade. Parentage: (Unknown x Unknown).
Tall, curly, and strikingly raspberry red! The velvety, rich red blooms curl and recurve, and are held on strong, nicely-branched scapes. The blooms have a green throat, shading to white, and white midribs; gracefully ruffled. Pod and pollen fertile. A favorite here.
Truly standing above the crowd, Dances with Giraffes is at least 5 feet tall when established. The large blooms cascade and curl down from the tall scapes, golden yellow with a rose-peach blush eye above a green throat. It is registered as an unusual form/cascade. Difficult to set a pod, but the pollen is good. This makes a statement in the garden!
Multiple award winner!
This one has narrow white, ruffled blooms like snowflakes on tall scapes. Slightly pink cast in the morning gives way to white on the blooms. Not famous for its branching, it has an adequate bud count of 12. The bloom is an open, spokes-of-a-wheel or star form. Unusual Form spatulate. Out of Secretary Sand x North Wind Dancer. Pod and pollen fertile.
(Reed, 2017) 50" M 10", dormant, diploid, 3 branches - 18 buds (Skydiving x Cherry Peacock). UF - cascade. Light lemon-cream/near white with a highly contrasting eye of dark purple; it has cream midribs and a light green throat.
Tall and thin, this bloom is pale with a dark-blood eye to haunt you. The bloom, not the scape, can be a little floppy after a big thunderstorm or overhead watering. But on a quiet morning it is stunning and huge.
Large, round symmetrical blooms are light purple with a dark purple band on the petals, large lime-green throat blending to light yellow-green, blooms are ruffled and heavily recurved. Tall with great deep branching (4-way) with bud count around 24. Still blooming at the end of July.

Dark Hollow is a dramatic, brooding kid from Flight of Orchids. It is a recurved, dark raspberry bloom with a huge dark mulberry-wine band feathering onto the petals. It has "eyelash" lines extending into the green throat from the eyezone, and cream midribs. It is ruffled, and has nice 3-way branching (21 buds). Grows well and sometimes reblooms. Pollen and pod fertile.
Parentage: (seedling x Flight of Orchids)
Black Red with a touch of purple and a green throat. Cream midribs, cream edge, and grayed colors on cool mornings. Very sunfast! The strong scapes hold the blooms floating at shoulder level for many. Fertile both ways, and producing many nice offspring for me.

Sibling to this one is Chris is Special ( much shorter but similar in color and performance. )

(Spiral Galaxy x Just Jessie) 4 branches, 25 buds
Lavender Red Cascade, darker band, with very large cream and green throat, cream midribs, and cream edge. Named for our famous dog and friend, Davey. Check out the image under More Info - this one has just a mass of blooms, branches, buds, and strong scapes. It blooms heavily for 3 to 4 weeks, with every day a show. The highest branching and bud count of my 2013 intros. 2022- 5 way branching and 30 buds.
2026- Excellent branching on tall scapes. Taller than registered.
(Reed, 2021) 45" M 7.5" dormant diploid, Unusual Form crispate
Large soft peach-yellow blend with a big green throat extending out on the bloom, and heavy substance. UF crispate form, with quilled sepals and very ruffled petals. 2-way branching, bud count 10. Pollen Fertile.

Clear butter yellow with large feathered wine-red eye on petals, small "v" wine-red on sepals. Greenish yellow throat blending to yellow and yellow midribs. Usually symmetrically recurved. Still blooming end of July. 3-way branching, 20 buds.
Bennett, F., '98 - 21" EM 3.5" sev.dip. Round rose/red little one. Bud Bennett passed away a few years ago. His diploid round and/or ruffled intros are joy in the Virginia- Maryland area. He never used the internet to sell daylilies, and mainly only has local distribution.
(Murphy-JP, 2023) 44"ML 7" Dormant Diploid, UF Cascade
Cream to near white with green throat. Green to cream stamens, ruffled edge. This is the closest to white daylily that I have registered. Out of over 100 near whites here, only 5 are whiter. They are all examples from the Stuart Kendig white evaluation group, as very white, or class 2. This blooms a very long time, with 3 branches and 23 buds in good garden conditions. The petal surfaces are slightly ridged, and the tepals are ruffled. Sunfast, fertile, excellent parent. I have very white seedlings out of this and Lipizzaner Stallions.
Out of ((August Snow x Heavenly White Lightning) x Diamond Jim)
Parent of my future line of very white seedlings. I crossed this with Lipizzaner Stallion and other group 2 whites and am impressed with the color of them.
A black red purple blend with bright green throat, and unusual cream fading to reddish pink midribs. Black anthers and stamens , purple buds. A bud builder blooming into September here. 3 branches and 22 buds
Parentage: (North Garden Chief x ( Cabernet Cabaret x Ocean Tides)) Exceedingly fertile.
I now have 3 probable future intros from this one. It is very dark on mornings below 70, and passes that on...
(Murphy, 2018) 28” E 6” dormant, diploid, Unusual Form-cascade.
Rich deep red-purple with large green to cream throat. The throat shape is sharply pointed, radiating out onto the tepals. It has light veining. This is a reliable and consistent early bloomer with up facing flowers on a shorter plant. Quite showy with the contrasting throat. I have some very interesting seedlings from Devil's Chimes. 3 branches, 15 buds
Parentage: (Rose F. Kennedy x Cabernet Cabaret)
Parent of 4 future intros.
Bright, clear red with strong green throat pattern extending halfway out the tepals, split with a striking cream midrib on tepals. 3 branches, 20 buds. Unusual form cascade. This daylily has extremely bright red and very deep green for a vivid contrast seen across the garden. Very sunfast for us, up to the mid 90's at 7pm. Long bloom season, and very fertile both ways. The name comes from my favorite place to hike and rock climb in Virginia.
Limited availability, but the sibling, Uncle Sams Cut is available for a lower price. It is just as showy.
(Rose F. Kennedy x Snooks Harville/BJ Crichton selected seedling)
This seems to be a breakthrough in RFK kids- fast growth, coupled with color that holds well in the afternoon summer sun.

Butter yellow spider, feathered red eye, gold throat, extended bloom. 4.43:1 spider ratio. This colorful flower, with blue green hard dormant foliage, starts blooming before STELLA DE ORO here. Parentage unknown.
This is a very reliable plant, problem free here, and consistently early bloom.
2021- This year it had 4-6 way branching with 30-40 buds, and bloomed for 6 weeks in clump strength.
2022- Won Best in Show- for the second time. Frequently does well in flower shows.
Reed 2011 38" M 8" dormant diploid. Light rose pink
With a "lipstick" rose-red band and lime green throat. There is a barely-discernible watermark on the sepals, which may be important for pattern breeding. Out of (Crystalline Entity x Nathan Sommers).
Fertile both ways. We have found this to be a truly excellent parent of both pastels with bright eyes and patterns.
Reed, 2003 - 32" M 6" dor.dip. Purple spidery with black-purple velvety eye, green throat. The latest and showiest in the Eggplant series. Jim's favorite.
Shocking Red Spider with a green throat and a chartreuse midrib. Rain Resistant red, sunfast at 98F at 7pm. Spider Ratio 5/1. Moderate Bud Builder. 3 branches, 19 buds, but more late in the season.
Parentage: TNT x WIRED. Very Fertile, good parent for sunfast red spiders.
First of all, this one is tall and has tremendous branching. Yellow curled or twisted blooms with a light reddish band. Light fragrance, sunfast and rainfast. It is an improvement on ELI MURPHY in terms of color and bloom presentation. Normally has 5 way branching. Normally has 30 buds. Sometimes goes to 6' tall, with 50 buds. Out of ELI MURPHY by MONSTER MAGIC. Fertile, very long blooming, sometimes a spider. It increases well! Double fans
(Murphy- JP, 2023) 35" ERe 6" Dormant Diploid, UF Cascade
Screaming red with bright green throat, and just a touch of cream midribs showing. Cool dark red stamens. Very long blooming on first scapes, and with some rebloom here through late season. 3 branches and 24 buds in good conditions. Fertile both ways. It has deep green arching foliage all season here.
Out of (Devil's Marbleyard x Ego)
One plant available for Spring 2026.
Clear light yellow with reddish lavender and charcoal pattern. Ruffled edge, chartreuse throat, and blue green foliage. Consistent bloom, strong scapes, sunfast to the high 90’s. One of my best and most used pattern parents. Some patterns have poor plant habits, but not this one! Out of Mad Jacky by a Faulkner seedling. Fertile.
Lavender bitone with purple eye, with large cream ruffled edge and cream midribs, dark veins on petals, green throat, sunfast to 100 degrees F. 3 branches, 18 buds. Unusual form cascade. Flouncy ruffles. The hotter it is the better it looks! I have several siblings to this and all seem to be very long bloomers and have quite fancy edges. This is a diploid and has some of the best cream edging that I have seen in a dip. Fertile, period. Kids can be patterned, double, edged, or streaked.
EYE AM (Murphy 2016) 32” EE 6.5” SEV Dip, 3 branches 16 buds, UF Cascade
Shocking eye is what I think of most on this intro. The base color is peach to tan but then has a large reddish purple eye covering most of the bloom. It also has a ruffled cream edge, veined tepals, dark green throat, and chartreuse midribs. It comes from patterned breeding and has the best strongly eyed and patterned kids of any of our seedlings. Fertile both ways. Seedling by Seedling with Faulkner and Carpenter genetics. Foliage damage here in the spring, but recovers well. I suggest only zones 6-9.
Parent of Indelible and 3 future intros. Probably not hardy in zones 3-5. Excellent here and the deep south.

They say bigger is better. At 11", this flower can be seen a long way away. Coral red with lighter edges, chartreuse throat, and excellent presentation facing to the side, not down or up. Parentage is : (SAILORS WARNING x Double spider seedling) X( RED SUSPENDERS x Different Double UF seedling). 2 branches, 13 buds. Pollen fertile only
This is a very "fetching" ruffled salmony-rose pink with a slight watermark, and lighter colors on the edges and ruffles; green throat and cream midribs. 3 branches, 18 bud count. Unusual form cascade. A great bright color in the mid-late to late garden, it is still blooming into August.
Parentage: (Peacock Curls x Heavenly Curls) x (Fossil Record x Foxy Loxy)
A wonderful feathered raspberry eye on a peachy cream background, completed by an orange throat. This long blooming cultivar has 4-way branching with 21 buds, perfect for shows. Very hardy here, out of ISLE OF DREAMS by WILD HORSES. It is fertile, and a good parent for cascades with eyes.
Reed, 2005 - 40" M 6" dor.dip. UF Lavender with purple eye, green throat
One of my favorites! This unusual form (crispate) features both the rolled sepals and the patterned, dark purple feathered eye on ruffled petals. This is the best of a number of seedlings out of a Jack Carpenter seedling. The blooms have good substance, and the plants make large fans. Fertile both ways. A scape of this cultivar won best unusual form in the Richmond (RADS) flower show in 2005, until it was disqualified for being registered the same year.
This daylily has multiple time zones appearing in the throat. The bloom is a heavily ruffled, muted orchid-lavender purple with a green throat. The eyezone usually shows a pattern with various amounts of multi-colored rings, reflecting its parentage from a Bob Faulkner seedling. It is about 20% polymerous. It has 3 branches and 14 buds. Pod and pollen fertile. Out of Sky Over Schuyler x seedling.
